ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 / 22301 Integrated Management System Manual

This version of the IMS1 Integrated Management System Manual covers ISO 9001:2026, ISO 14001:2026, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 22301:2019. Sections 1 to 5 hold the shared framework and quality processes, Section 6 covers environmental management and Section 7 health and safety, and business continuity runs through the scope, policies, responsibilities and 2.5.6.

Emergency planning is where the standards connect. Environmental incidents in 6.3 and health and safety emergencies in 7.2.2 each have a planned response that is tested and reviewed, emergency contacts can be held within the business continuity or disaster recovery plan, and wider disruption is managed through PP-1-05 Business Continuity Policy and F-IMS21 Business Continuity Register.

What the Manual Covers

  • Section 1 Integrated Management System - scope including the BCMS statement, context, processes, documented information and data backup, and legal compliance with environmental and health and safety legislation tables
  • Section 2 Leadership, Commitment and Planning - quality, environmental, health and safety and business continuity policies and objectives, responsibilities for the IMS Lead, Environmental Representative, H&S Lead and Business Continuity Lead, management review, and risks and opportunities with business continuity in 2.5.6
  • Sections 3 to 5 - people and competence, equipment and premises, communication, operational processes from enquiry to invoicing, and monitoring, audit and improvement
  • Section 6 Environmental Management - commitment to environmental protection, environmental assessment, environmental incident prevention and management, and environmental procedures and arrangements
  • Section 7 Health & Safety Management - commitment to health and safety at work, guidance and arrangements, the health and safety procedure, accident, incident and near miss reporting, hazard identification and risk assessment, and procedures and policies

Built for ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 22301

  • A business continuity statement in 1.2 naming the policy, procedure and registers that make up the BCMS
  • Planned responses to environmental and health and safety emergencies, tested periodically and reviewed after any emergency or test
  • Continuity arrangements for key activities on F-IMS21 and disruption risks on the business continuity risk register, reviewed at management review and after any exercise
  • Environmental, health and safety and business continuity terms in Appendix iii, including business impact analysis and recovery time objective

Who Needs an ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 / 22301 Integrated Manual?

Organisations with physical operations, where an interruption to supply would affect customers, such as manufacturers, distributors and facilities businesses, use this manual to manage quality, environmental, health and safety and continuity risks in one system. It suits SMEs whose customers look for SHEQ certification and business continuity planning, and who would rather keep one manual than a separate one for each standard.

Included in the ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 / 22301 Toolkit

This manual is part of the ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 / 22301 Toolkit, where it is supplied with the IMS1 Manual Guidance and the registers, forms, policies and procedures it refers to.

Using the Manual

Name the Environmental Representative, H&S Lead and Business Continuity Lead in 2.2 and add them to the organisational chart. Complete the BCMS statement in 1.2, record environmental aspects and planned responses on F-IMS60 and hazards on the hazard and risk assessment register, then check that the emergency contacts and arrangements in 6.3 and 7.2.2 match the business continuity plan.

Related Documents

PP-1-05 Business Continuity Policy Procedure covers the business impact analysis, continuity plans and exercising programme referred to in 2.5.6, and F-IMS21 Business Continuity Register summarises continuity arrangements for key activities. IMS1 Guidance explains each section, and F-IMS22 Interested Parties Register and F-IMS23 Opportunities and Risks Register hold the interested parties and key risks for every standard covered.
